Accessibility Statement
Last updated: April 2026
What We Are Aiming For
Our goal is conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. That is the standard most US accessibility laws reference.
We are a small business. We do not have a full-time accessibility team. What we do have is a commitment to build the site right and fix problems quickly when reported. If something is not working for you, call (631) 507-3842 and we will address it. A real human will respond within 24 hours on a weekday.
What We Have Already Done
Screen readers:
- Proper heading structure on every page
- All images have descriptive alt text or are marked decorative
- All form fields have associated labels
- All buttons and links have accessible names
- ARIA landmarks for navigation, main content, and footer
- Tested with VoiceOver on macOS and iOS, and NVDA on Windows
Keyboard navigation:
- Every interactive element reachable with Tab
- Visible focus indicators at all times
- Logical tab order follows visual order
- No keyboard traps
- Skip-to-content link on every page
Color and contrast:
- Body text contrast ratio exceeds 7:1
- Color is never the only way we convey information
- Dark mode supported with the same contrast standards
Text and readability:
- Body text is 18px by default
- Line height is 1.65
- Paragraphs are short, plain English
- Text resizes up to 200% without breaking layout
Media:
- Any video has captions
- No auto-playing audio
- No flashing content
Forms:
- Clear error messages in plain English
- Errors announced to screen readers
- Required fields marked with asterisk and text
What We Are Still Working On
- Some portfolio photos do not yet have detailed alt text. Every photo has basic alt text, but some would benefit from more specific descriptions. We are working through the backlog.
- The service area map is embed-based and not fully accessible. The same information appears in plain text below the map.
- Some older PDF downloads are not tagged for accessibility. Newer PDFs are tagged. If you need an accessible version of a specific PDF, email us and we will generate one within 48 hours.
What We Have Tested
- Screen readers: VoiceOver (macOS and iOS), NVDA (Windows), JAWS (Windows, limited)
- Browsers: Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge, current and one version back
- Keyboard only: Full testing on all interactive elements
- Zoom: Tested at 200% and 400%
- High contrast: Tested in Windows High Contrast mode and macOS Increase Contrast
- Mobile: Tested on iPhone, Android, and iPad
Process
- Design: Color contrast and text size decisions that meet AA minimum
- Development: Semantic HTML, ARIA only when needed
- Testing: Every page tested with at least one screen reader and keyboard before launch
- Audits: Automated accessibility audits (axe-core) on every deploy
- Manual review: New features tested with assistive tech
