Why Your Gutters Are More Important Than You Think
Gutters are the most under-appreciated part of your roof system. A properly pitched, properly sized gutter system moves thousands of gallons of water away from your foundation, your fascia, and your landscaping every year. When gutters fail, here is what happens:
Foundation damage. Water pools at the foundation wall, seeps into the basement, and eventually compromises the footer. Foundation repair runs $5,000 to $25,000 on Long Island. New gutters run $1,200 to $3,500.
Fascia rot. Water that overflows the gutter saturates the fascia board behind it. Rotted fascia means new fascia before the next gutter can go up.
Ice dams. Clogged or poorly pitched gutters hold water that freezes in winter and backs up under the shingles. This is one of the main causes of interior water damage on Long Island homes.
Landscaping erosion. No gutters or failed gutters dump water directly off the roof edge, carving channels in your mulch beds and washing out plantings.
Gutter Systems We Install
Seamless Aluminum (5" K-Style)
Our standard. We roll seamless gutters on site from a truck-mounted machine, custom-cut to the exact length of each run. No seams means no leak points. Aluminum does not rust and holds paint well.
Colors: 25+ factory colors to match your trim Lifespan: 20-30 years Cost: $8-$15 per linear foot installed
Seamless Aluminum (6" K-Style or Half-Round)
For homes with large roof areas or heavy tree coverage. The 6" gutter handles 40% more water volume than the 5". Half-round is the traditional profile for historic homes and colonials.
Cost: $12-$20 per linear foot installed
Copper Gutters
The premium pick. Copper develops a natural patina over time and lasts 50+ years. We install copper on historic homes, high-end colonials, and any home where the owner wants the best.
Cost: $25-$45 per linear foot installed
Gutter Guards
Micro-mesh, screen, or reverse-curve guards that keep leaves and debris out. We install guards on new gutter systems and retrofit onto existing gutters.
Cost: $6-$12 per linear foot (add-on to gutter install)
Common Gutter Repairs
- Sagging gutters: Failed hangers or insufficient hanger spacing. We re-hang with new hidden hangers every 24 inches.
- Leaking seams: Old sectional gutters leak at the joints. We seal or replace with seamless.
- Damaged downspouts: Crushed, disconnected, or improperly routed. We replace and extend downspouts to move water 4-6 feet from the foundation.
- Ice damage: Winter ice can pull gutters off the fascia. We rehang and reinforce.
